Webster Fire Department: Man falls into pit at Webster Wastewater Treatment Plant, suffers severe impalement injury
WEBSTER, N.Y. — The Webster Fire Department said a man fell into a pit that was about 16 feet below ground level and suffered a severe impalement injury at the Webster Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Webster Fire said they were dispatched to the plant Thursday morning for a report of a man who had fallen from scaffolding. When line officers arrived to the scene, they found the victim in the pit.
Webster Fire said they requested assistance from the Monroe County Special Operations Unit and also received assistance from the Webster Police Department and the Town of Webster.
Ground ladders were used to access the pit. Once the victim was removed safely from the pit, he was transported to Penfield Ambulance and then transported to Strong Memorial Hospital where he currently receives medical treatment, according to Webster Fire.
